Thoresby (4) 196-8
Southwell (0) 148 ao
On a blustery day Jonesey finally came good with the coin
and we relaxed and hoped for a big score.
Ian S and Jono started cautiously against a decent opening
attack before Jono was brilliantly stumped. Tony joined Ian but the
players were driven to the pavilion as heavy rain fell. After the break
both fell quickly and when Rob also went cheaply Thoresby had slumped to
47-4. But a superb captain’s knock from Jonesey and good support
from Simon in a stand of one hundred gave hope of a good score. Both fell
in quick succession and it was left to Ian Hp and Nige to take the score
to close to two hundred.
In reply Southwell were quickly pegged back as both Callum
and Jono took early wickets. Chesh and Nige came on and both took wickets,
Southwell losing wickets regularly as they fell behind the run rate, it was
only a good eighth wicket stand of fifty two that gave them any hope but a
smart run out by Ian S ended the stand. Simon came on and claimed the last two
wickets.
This was an excellent game played in just the right spirit.
This victory now gives us great hope we can beat the drop.
