MADNI (4) 271-8
THORESBY (0) 223-8
This was another game played in a heated atmosphere.
Jonesey lost the toss again and we were fielding. Second
over and the dupilicitous decisions started. Billy
had the opener allegedly well caught by Ben. Not out was the answer. Two overs later and Billy probably had the other opener bang in
front, not out again. After this the opener went on to make a superb 150 which
included some of the best hitting seen at Thoresby for many a year. Another
wicket was denied when what looked like a comfortable out run out was again
turned down. Dubious wides were given and a couple of
leg byes when no shot played completed the afternoon’s work. Jono was the pick of the Thoresby bowling although Lee must
take credit for a good spell at the end when all were being hit a long way.
In reply Thoresby made a valiant effort to chase the huge target. Chesh, after a shaky start, hit some tremendous shots,
although the treatment he received when he was dismissed was terrible. Jono carried on from the previous day’s good form although
he did manage a hat trick of run outs. Billy achieved the remarkable feat of
being out in the forty first over of a forty over game!!!!!!! due to Sue’s blunder in the scorebook.
All in all this was pretty much a waste of a glorious afternoon and I wonder if
we really would be better off just giving some teams the game.
