Calverton
216-5 (4 pts)
Thoresby 193-6 (0
pts)
On a hot day Thoresby’s luck with the coin finally ran out
and they were consigned to a couple of hours sunbathing.
Chesh opened up with young Lee and was soon rolling back the
years with an immaculate display of swing bowling. He got the breakthrough
with Jono taking a sharp catch. Dancing Dave then replaced Lee and again
had no luck although bowling more consistently. Nige replaced Chesh and managed
to keep it tight, also picking up a couple of wickets. One of which was down to
an excellent legside stumping from Jonesy. Jono and Callum came on and bowled
well at the end, both picking up a wicket.
The total was always going to be a big ask but when Jonesy
got out for a quickfire twenty two it was even harder. Ben got in some useful
time at the wicket but fell trying to push the score on. Nige then joined Jono
and the two pushed the scoring and got into a good position to win the game.
The game was then changed when Jono fell to a juggling catch. Chesh came
in and got a very rare second ball duck. Dancing Dave then threatened
to make a fight of it but was bowled looking for a big
shot. Nige was then run out for the second consecutive game by a
fielder hitting one stump. Callum and Lee had some useful batting practice
and batted out the overs.
This was a game played in excellent spirit, and the Calverton youngsters are a credit to the club.
