THORESBY COLLIERY 2nd (17)    183 for 5

KILLAMARSH 2nd (5)                     126 for 7

Apologies for a late and truncated report …….. due to serious decorating duties.

Thoresby lined up against a keen and enthusiastic Killamarsh side. Bowler N Brammer was generous to Thoresby in his opening spell, in sharp contrast to veteran performer Rod Cook. Despite losing Evans and Chatterton cheaply, Thoresby kept the rate ticking over with Case and Halfpenny progressing well. After Case was LBW Rob Walker joined Halfpenny and these two gradually upped the ante, taking lots of ones, byes, leg byes plus the occasional boundary. In the final account 183 was a useful score on a slowish track.

Hutchy then produced a magnificent effort to bowl all the way through, with terrific economy, taking 6 of the 7 wickets to fall. It was Cook who held up Thoresby and he batted well, although it was a shame the game ended in some acrimony after the stand-in umpire failed to give him run out when he was clearly three yards short of the line. However Thoresby did themselves no favours on this occasion after several slightly over the top comments in the field. This IS division 6 after all, and if we can’t win in a friendly spirit then it’s a sad reflection on the club.
