Thoresby Colliery [1] 86ao
Notts & Arnold Amateurs
[20] 89-3
After the previous day’s
excellent batting performance the wheels fell off.
Once again we batted first; due to lack of
time at the crease Chesh promoted Jono to open. This was the first thing to go
wrong with Jono nicking one in the second over. Jonesy then joined Chesh and
all was ok until the umpire gave the first of his three debatable decisions,
Chesh given when a long way down the pitch. Pete again looked in good touch
until he became the umpire’s second questionable ‘victim’. Slow bowler Rann was
bowling left arm round with little turn but somehow got the decision when he
hit Pete well in front of the crease. Nige joined Paul and they tried to steady
the ship but Paul was well stumped trying to get the score moving. Nige then got
a good quicker ball and was bowled by Rann. Then young Ben was given out LBW on
the front foot to a bowler from left arm round!!!. Shailesh struck a couple of
boundaries before becoming Rann’s fifth wicket and Ian ˝p and the tail made a
valiant effort to bat the full overs out. This was a very disappointing score
although the long outfield might have made150 a competitive score.
