THORESBY COLLIERY (1)            155 for 8

CUCKNEY (16)                     156 for 1

There have been some poor performances this season but this must rate as the worst.

Chesh continued his good form with the coin, and again we batted first. Stevie Willis continued in his role as opener but was first out, well caught at square leg. Chesh followed soon after and Tuffers brought his Sunday form rather than his Saturday form to the crease and again gave catching practice to the opposition. Nige then joined Jonesey and they managed to take the score from 40-3 to 116-3. At this point the day went downhill as Saylesh had to leave the ground to be at his wife’s side as she had been taken to hospital. Within 2 overs Nige was out and not long after Jonesey followed. Cuckney could not believe their luck when two silly run outs left us just trying to bat the overs out. The final total was very disappointing as only 40 runs were scored from the last 20 overs.

In reply Steve and Jono opened up in Saylesh’s absence and gave it everything, but it can not be understated the difference Says absence made. Jono struck an early blow, then Steve just failed to hold a catch off Jono. Three further catches were dropped and after Jono’s early overs very little pressure was applied. Cuckney ran out easy winners reaching their score in just 35 overs. Probably the only plus out of the bowling was that Dave bowled an excellent spell with little luck; hopefully this will give him the confidence that he has lacked of late.

We must now raise our game for the challenge of Blidworth, a game that will be vital to both sides’ prospects of avoiding relegation.
