BOLSOVER (5)                                 240 for 9

THORESBY COLLIERY (20)          246 for 3

After a terrible forecast and a little morning rain we arrived at Bolsover under clear blue skies.

Chesh for once lost the toss and Bolsover decided to bat. Saylesh, back after his week’s break, started off with a big long hop which Tariq put away effortlessly; another wild ball followed before Say found his line which then became immaculate. Jono at the other end also started well. Say got the big wicket of Tariq clean bowled, which he celebrated in great fashion. It then got better as he had the new batsman plumb in front to set up a hat-trick, which he just failed to get. We then got really on top when Say took his third wicket to leave Bolsover on 13-3. At this point a number of catches went down and a few good lbw shouts were turned down, which enabled Bolsover to reach 81 before Say took his fourth wicket, again bowled. Billy then replaced Say and quickly struck. Three overs later Stevie took the sixth wicket courtesy of a blinding catch by Chesh. Nige then dropped Wooley and the innings was transformed as he then opened up and dispatched the ball to all parts of the ground, racing to fifty in just thirty balls. At the other end Bull went through to a chanceless ton. Jono was brought back and got Wooley caught on the boundary going for another big hit. Good catches by Say, and then Jono, accounted for the final two wickets. Say was the pick of the bowling with our first five wicket haul of the season.

In reply Stevie went in to try and get the innings off to a flyer, but after two huge sixes he fell to a skied catch. Jonesey and Chesh then looked in complete control until Jonesey nicked the ball to the keeper which was a liitle frustrating as it was his first false shot. Tuffers strode to the wicket on his dodgy knee, but valiantly took the attack to Bolsover and was soon stroking the ball around. Chesh at the other end was marching on to yet another ton, until he tried to get there in two hits. The first one he was caught, but the fielder sportingly gestured that he had crossed the line for six. Then next ball he was caught just inside the boundary. Nige then joined Tuffers and they took us through to victory.

A much better performance played on an excellent wicket. This should now give us heart that we can chase big scores and win.
