BLIDWORTH (20)                            231 all out

THORESBY COLLIERY (4)            67 all out

After last week’s superb performance, Thoresby were back to their frustrating worst. Although it has to be said Blidworth played very well and fully deserved the victory.

Chesh again won the toss and invited Blidworth to bat as again there was damp in the pitch after another poor week of weather. A dream start was again made as first Jono and then Naeem struck early blows to leave Blid on 2-2. Skipper Price and Pairama then started to play a few shots before Jono struck again to remove Pairama , this brought veteran Gibbons to the wicket. With great technique he kept the bowling out particularly at one end were the pitch had started to misbehave, Price at the other end continued to play his shots before with the score on 100 they both fell. The bowling was continually changed as three more wickets fell to leave Blid on 167-8 with ten overs left. The bowling particularly to the lively end had be inconsistent but from this point it just got shorter and more erratic as young David Willcock began to play shots of a very high standard and complete an excellent half century. When the final two wickets were taken t! he damage had already been done as Thoresby had a mountain to climb against a team who were now full of confidence.

Things just got worse as Wood started a purple patch of bowling by removing Chesh early, he then went on to take three more wickets. Poor shots accounting for Jono, Nige and Ian. Pairama then got in the act at the other end by bowling Patel to leave Thoresby on 23-6 before Jonsey and Naeem finnally put together a partnership. But these two fell within a few balls and despite the valiant efforts of Callum and Scott Thoresby were dismissed to give Blidworth full points.

In a way Thoresbys results mirror the league as a whole, with teams recording big victories one week then getting hammered the next. But it still is hard to figure how a team with the ability and experience we have can be so frustratingly inconsistent. We must now pick ourselves up for next week’s game against Arnold.
